As a beginner I found this pattern easy which I appreciate. I have made three so far using lion brand yarn. I did leave the pom poms off due to personal preference. This was very relaxing to work on in the evenings.

I really like this cowl in Lion Brand Homespun. I have made two so far. It's fun to make in the painterly self-striping colors.I used "mixed berries" for my second one, and I love the look of it! I had some trouble understanding how to sew the top edge down at first. Then I used a piece of contrasting yarn 6" from the top to mark my sewing line. I did this before taking the work off the loom, and that helped a lot.
I needed less than 1 skein, but did not add the pom-poms.
I think I will make another in "Painted Desert". It's a nice evening project, and very relaxing to make.

20 inches might be a bit long for this project, I used a different yarn than the pattern called for, so I had to go by measurement.... it's ginormous. Other than that I omitted the poms, not my thing. It was a very easy project to make, the "sew the top down" instructions were a little vague and by the picture it appears the pattern sewed farther down. If I make another I will definitely put a little more of my own spin on the piece =o)

I knit this cowl with Lion Brand Homespun as that is what I had on hand and and I had more than enough. I loved the way it turned out. I didn't actually make the pom-poms as I am not a pom-pom sort of a girl. I liked it so much that I'm making another. For a beginner, the instructions of how to finish off were a bit vague. I ended up marking the turnover with a thread evenly down a row and then using an invisible graft to stitch the turned over edge down.

One skein of Jiffy is not enough to make cowl following the directions. My cowl is only 13 inches (before the edge is turned) with 4 Pompoms and all the yarn is gone. I had to steam the bottom edge to get to lay flat like the picture.
