Made one, working on a second. With the corrections, I had no problems and I love the way the poncho looks. I used worsted weight yarn, just odds and ends left over from other projects. My nieces are going to enjoy these!

I had to bump it up to bulky weight yarn and a size L hook, Then I followed the pattern until I had 10 rows and then I made the drawstring (following the length, not the number of stitches.)

I agree with scrxt. No way a child's head would fit thru the 40 ch!
I made it the next larger size with a K hook. Finished with the small # of rows.(15)

this was a big ready to make it and there is NO WAY that a 40 stitch chain will gently stretch to 20 inches. A 20" neck size will never go over a 5 yr olds head! I don't have the time right now to re vamp, either!

Great pattern it takes me way back. I was looking for a Christmas gift project for all my nieces, and here it is.
LOLA, what is so funny about peace, love and understanding!

Used chunky softee yarn

msde it in solid color, put fun fur DC in neck and around bottom edge instead of fringe.

Had to add 6 rows to make size 10/12 long enough to fit child.
