'Totally Tubular' Child's Hat Reviewed by Sanne King on 2013-09-18 *****
I made this hat with a thinner yarn and it turned out really cute. Since the yarn was plain, the pattern gives it a nice look. C/O 58 with size 6.5mm (US size 10 1/2) with repeating pattern of your choice. A really easy pattern for me, since I've only recently begun knitting. Love the easy stuff!

'Totally Terrific Tubular' Child's Hat Reviewed by Jyl Milner on 2009-01-07 *****
I absolutely loved knitting this almost "mindless" pattern. I do a lot of knitting and crocheting for a variety of charity or humanitarian organizations, and this has become my new favorite kids' hat pattern.

Instead of working it in the yarn called for, I decided to play with the color, as shown in the two pictured hats. One is made of a strand of Wool-Ease worsted weight Blue Heather and a strand of Vanna's Choice Colonial Blue. The other hat is made of Wool-Ease worsted Paprika and Vanna's Choice Terracotta. Two strands of worsted weight yarn are about equivalent to one strand of #6 weight yarn. Since this project is for charity, I didn't check my gauge - the hats will fit two youngsters out there perfectly!!

The colors are enough alike and yet enough different that they become shimmery, almost iridescent. I usually use highly contrasting yarns together this way, but this is more subtle, more sophisticated - and this was the perfect pattern to try them out on!
