I have knitted three of these
(one for my 40year old son who went camping with it) very warm he says. Knitting now for oldies with dememtia easier than jumpers say the carers

I made this for a friend of mine...she loved it!!! Reviewed by Shelane Bell on 2009-06-29 ****
It's definitely a warm one.

I would suggest using lace or wooden needles; the suede yarn was a little slippery on the Boyes.

I wish I'd known more about multicolor knitting when I made this. I had trouble with the tension, color changes and starting the next row. That's not a reflection on the pattern at all though, that's just me.

I know the stripes and fringe are really cool, but I'm doing this in only two colors of yarn and it is Super Easy! Love this pattern. I'm almost finished...

This poncho was a lot of fun to make. My mother and I worked on it together and it looks great.

This pancho was easy to make. But you must follow the directions closely.

The only thing I do not like about it. You cannot use your hands. This is something to wear when you do not need to use your hands.

Desert Poncho Reviewed by BETTY EBERLE on 2008-02-04 *****
My name is Betty, I live in NW, FL. I made this poncho, in the winter of 05, finished it in Jan. 06. I made it with the Lion Brand Suede yarn. It turned out very nice, get allot of compliments. It is very warm, too warm for our area, have only been able to wear it two times. The suede yarn is very soft yet strong and very easy to work with. I won second place in our local County Fair in Oct 06. I am trying to do an instructable on the Lion Brand Instructable site.
