I made this one with red colorwaves, then with blue colorwaves. Very fast, very cute.
I made one in a dusty pink boucle as a gift and threaded 1/2" hot pink ribbon about an inch from the neckline, so the mom could adjust the size as they liked.

I am working on knitting this for my granddaughter. It is my first project and it looks like it will turn out well. I am going to crochet a little flower in contrasting yarn and sew it to the front V to close it up a little. I may add that contrasting yarn to the fringe as well. Thanks for the tips.

I have only knit scarves until now, but this was so easy. If you can make rectangles and sew pieces together, you can do it! It turned out really cute and I hope my niece loves it.

I, too, found the same problem with the neckline of this poncho. My solution - I just crocheted a few rounds around the neckline, which tightened it up and gave it a nice "collar".

I have 5 grandaughters, now aged 6 to 11 years and over the past 2 years I have used this pattern 7 -8 times,it is the easiest thing to knit and it very popular with all the girls. but I do agree, the V-neck is too big so I just shorten the length of the knitted oblong, seems to work!!!

I followed this pattern and made a lovely yellow poncho for my toddler but have one comment. Nice pattern but the open 'V' section in the front and back is too deep. Because of that, I put a brooch on the poncho to clip the front sections a little bit closer. Otherwise, nice simple pattern.
