I LOVE this pattern! I've done it a variety of ways, using many different types of yarn. One of my favorites was using an alpaca blend, a fun fur and a thin suede. I've made it narrow, I've made it wide. I've many it multi-colored, I've made it mono-chromatic. I've followed the pattern and I've made up my own using 2 or more types of yarns. It's fun to introduce this pattern to beginner crocheters. They look at it and think it's beyond them. Once I explain it's only single crochet, their minds are opened to a whole new world of possibilities. It's also a fantastic way to use up bits and pieces of leftover yarn!! :o)

This is a quick & easy scarf that turns out beautifully! You can use whatever type of yarn you want, just pick 4 different types. I usually use homespun for A, B, or C, but I always use Fun Fur for D because that comes out in the center of the scarf. Mine are 7 feet long and about 4-5 inches wide. My red scarf is all red yarn, just different weights & textures. My other two are shades of beige & brown.

I made this scarf with reds/teal/green/Moonlight Mohair/champagne fun fur. I really wasn't sure the colors would meld, but they did. Beautiful.

I didn't worry about different yarn weights or even following the suggested yarns. The mohair and fur help the gauge to right itself.

Will make more. This is a pattern that helps use up leftover yarns.

I love this pattern. I found some sources to purchase the now no-longer-available Fancy Fur and the more colorful skeins of the Suede yarn. I have made several combinations and the scarves work up quickly & they are fun to make. So many beautiful shades of the Homespun to mix up! The Fancy Fur is gorgeous and cool to work with-I love it! This pattern also makes a great gift. I adjusted the outer edges to match as you can see one edge is wider than the other. Easy, quick fun project!

What fun, much prettier than the picture, didn't take long either. Great gift to give.

First Crochet Project Turned Out Awesome! Reviewed by Hailee Bowler on 2008-12-30 *****
Aside from just practicing different stiches by making dish cloths, this was my first real crochet project four years ago. It turned out amazing! I gave it to my sister for Christmas and she still gets compliments when she wears it.

This scarf was so easy to make and came out really beautiful. I made several of them last year for Christmas gifts. I used different colors and they all came out great.

This scarf was a lot of fun to make and very easy. I liked it so much that I'm going to try other yarns and colors for each season and add beads to the fringed edge too.
