Child's Knitted Jumper Reviewed by vita sibirsky on 2012-04-02 *****
I just started this jumper in the size 3. It is being knit for my grandchild who will be closer to a size 4 by next winter when she wears this so I have made a few adjustments . I will add an extra inch or two to length. When I reduce for the bodice I may adjust the decreasing to have just an extra inch or two through the bodice and I think the armholes might need an extra little bit.. Since the yarn is no longer available I am making it in a sport weight self striping yarn. I started it yesterday and just finished the lace detail on the bottom. I have been knitting all my life and even taught the craft. No way is this a "beginner" pattern. it could be argued that it just involves increasing, decreasing, yarn over and knitting in the round but there are a lot of stitches on the needle and maintaining that lace pattern until it is stockinette every row does take experience beyond a beginner. I can already see this dress is going to spectacular when done. I am surprised there are only 2 reviews. i would assume many people would have had a go on this one. It might be that the picture does not give the detail on this dress that make the real interest.

I have just completed my second knitted jumper -- a terrific, easy to follow pattern with elegant results. The lacy trim adds a special touch. I think it's a great baby gift!

I knitted this a bit larger than would fit my grand niece. She can get some where out of this for summer but I wanted her to have a nice pinafore for her good dresses for Church. She just turned 1 and the pattern is easy to follow. I had a little trouble getting yarn since the yarn specified is out of stock. I made do--that is the best part about knitting--it doesn't have to look exactly like it does in the picture. I will take pictures of Marie Rose in it and send them in.
