This is an easy and quick pattern to introduce to beginners who want to make socks. Unfortunately, as one other reviewer pointed out, the socks do wear quickly on the bottoms, so I drew my own foot on paper to use as a pattern. I used the easy garter pattern to make the "sole" and made notes as I knitted, "how many rows and how many stitches needed" to align with the paper pattern of my foot. Now I make soles for all of my "loafing around" socks. By the way, one sketch of one foot works for both right and left soles---Simply flip the pattern over and reverse shaping for opposite sole.

These socks knit up very quickly. I used them as slippers around the house. Unfortunately, they wore out very quickly. I got big holes in the bottom after wearing them a few times. I have made socks with 100% wool that have lasted me for years, so I think it's mostly the acrylic yarn that's the problem. Next time, I would try this pattern with double strands of 100% wool.

I have made 3 pairs of these. It's a really easy pattern to follow. If you've never made socks before this is a great pattern to learn on, because there are so few stitches and it goes very quickly. I did modify this on the 3rd pair - instead of casting on 28 and knitting 7" from beginning, I cast on 20, did the ribbing, and went immediately to the heel flap - in other words, made them booties instead of socks. They'll be great to sleep in this winter!

it was my firt time knitting something that wasn't a scarf or a square, so it was little confusing sometimes, but i searched on the internet for videos that could help me understand better. i like the pattern :)

These were the second pair of socks I ever made and they were easy and fast! I like the way the leg decreases gracefully, they look and feel impressive. I intend to make two more for christmas presents. I made mine in wheat color; and the next one (for a guy)I am making in the color charcoal.
The pattern was easy to follow; however I did thread some elastic at the top afterword to help keep them up, which is easy with this kind of soft wool. A Great pattern for beginners like me(I just started knitting this year).
