This afghan is indeed lovely and fun to knit! My granddaughter, for whom I knit it, loves it. I did think, however, that the chevron pattern was a bit indistinct unless the light was absolutely right. I, too, made the afghan 9 panels wide and 11 blocks long. Casting on 244 stitches for the border works perfectly (26 stitches per panel and 5 for each border). Be absolutely sure to do a gauge square. Mine came out perfect width-wise, but slightly long lengthwise. I chose not to change needles and needed 15 balls of yarn, plus just enough of a 16th ball to do 3 rows of border. Gauge squares are important!

I just finished this afghan an hour ago and am SO pleased with it. I wish it were for me instead of a Christmas gift.

I, too, made mine larger, 9 panels wide and 11 blocks long. To make the lace border, pick up and knit 244 stitches across the 11 panels.

Order 14 skeins to make it this size.

This is a beautiful afghan and I am ordering supplies today to make my third. This pattern changes enough to keep the project interesting. But it is also easy enough that once you feel comfortable with the pattern, you can talk while knitting. I agree with one of the other reviewers that the panels make it a great travel project. It is one of the few patterns that once it was complete, I felt like I had accomplished something special.

NOTE: The pattern calls for 7 strips that are 9 blocks long. Mine is 9 strips that are 11 blocks long. Please consider ordering extra yarn.

I am making this afghan but would enjoy it more if I had a better photograph. Even on max zoom, I cannot see the seams or pattern detail. Perhaps someone who has already finished this afghan will contribute a photo.

I have made four of these afghans for my granddaughters, and am ordering the yarn today for another one, as I have two more granddaughters. I loved working on the panels, as I can take them with me to work on wherever I go.
The border is what makes it so beautiful with the curving pattern.
