For all you crocheters out there. I just made one like this. (my own pattern) All I did was cast on 70 and crocheted it all with a half double hdc. Color changed when I wanted to. I also used different yarns. I used thicker yarns. I used a K 6.5mm hook. For the neck when you get to the half way point (you will want to make it like a square so you can have a pointy end in front - if you want)all you need to do is when you get to stitch number 25 (start on 26) chain 20 (loosely) for the neck hole and attach with a slip stitch. Then when you turn you keep doing a half double hdc. I am sure you could make this with any stitch you want single, half or double. I hope this helps and is not confusing.

this is not a knitting pattern.mainly you are just single crocheting the back hoops to make it look like the knitting procedure.just time consuming.

I bought the required yarns, and got ready to start. First this picture is knit, not crochet. If I was to follow the pattern and do dc's it would not look like this. I am a beginner, if you made this pattern and it turned out like this picture, I would like to know about it before I get started. This is a lot of yarn and it is not cheap. I found when working with it, if you try to pull it out it sometimes gets tangled.

I agree with the previous poster. The same thing happened to me. The poncho turned out huge and is heavy to wear. I had to make the neck opening much smaller than called for because the poncho was so heavy it kept sliding off my shoulders. I can't see myself going out in pubic wearing it either, but it's nice for keeping warm while sitting on the couch. :-) I LOVE the wool-ease thick and quick yarn.

I made this but it turned out HUGE and heavy. I crochet tightly; I would recommend going down a size or two with your hook and check your gauge (I did not). Colors are beautiful, though and yarn is so soft. Due to the size, though, it looks a little ridiculous for wearing out in public. I wear it snuggling in my favorite chair in the winter.
