Manhattan, New York – July 11, 2011 - Lion Brand Yarn Company (www.LionBrand.com) Lion Brand Yarn Studio, the retail store of Lion Brand Yarn Company, has created a giant postcard of New York City, entirely handcrafted from yarn, for its window display. The postcard measures 4 feet by 6.5 feet and celebrates the famous "Greetings from New York" postcard design. Every season, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio uses yarn to create an inventive window display; the current postcard window will be on display at the Lion Brand Yarn Studio until August 31st. As with all Lion Brand Yarn Studio displays, the majority is knit or crocheted, with some details being embroidered or wrapped in yarn. All the yarns used in the display are Lion Brand yarns. It was easy to find a yarn for every detail with over 50 product lines to choose from. Vanna's Glamour, a sparkling metallic yarn, was used to create a tiny Wall Street Bull. Other details include a felted taxi cab, an embroidered "We Are Happy to Serve You" coffee cup, a yarn wrapped Guggenheim Museum, and billboards announcing shows that are puns on Broadway hits like "Dream Purls" and "My Fair Isle Lady." Past window displays that celebrate New York City include an all-yarn New York City skyline, a crafted Coney Island, and a Statue of Liberty. Elements of the window design are created by the Lion Brand Yarn Studio’s expert knitters and crocheters, as well as freelance designers. In addition to selling yarns, tools, and specialty items, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio is also an education center, offering more than 100 classes on knitting, crocheting, weaving, machine-knitting, and even dyeing yarns. The Lion Brand Yarn Studio has become a global destination since its opening in 2008, bringing visitors from all over the world to visit this one of a kind store and share their common love of yarn and yarn-crafts. Since knitting and crochet are popular portable activities, perfect for travel and relaxing outdoors, summer is a perfect time to stop by the Lion Brand Yarn Studio for inspiration and supplies for a new summer project. About Lion Brand Yarn Studio: Since its grand opening in November 2008, Lion Brand Yarn Studio has become the premier yarn-crafting destination for New Yorkers as well as tourists.
