LionBrand.com honors Earth Hour by shutting down its Web site 8:30 - 9:30pm, Saturday, March 27

The Internet's most popular Web site for knitting and crochet enthusiasts recognizes Earth Hour this Saturday by shutting down for one hour on Saturday night, March 27th.

Manhattan, New York - March 26, 2010 - The Lion Brand Yarn Company will honor Earth Hour by darkening its Web site for one hour on Saturday, March 27th, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.

Earth Hour (http://bit.ly/bTadlE) is a day on which hundreds of millions of people around the world turn off their lights for one hour. The savings from just one hour shows how our individual efforts become powerful and significant when we all work together. Last year lights were turned off on the Empire State Building, all New York Broadway theater marquees, the Las Vegas Strip, the Golden Gate Bridge, St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, London's Big Ben, and other important landmarks around the world. Today, Lion Brand (http://bit.ly/bdiqtv) announced their participation in a blog post.

"For us at Lion Brand, there is even more of a point to be made." said Ilana Rabinowitz of Lion Brand Yarn. "Knitters and crocheters know that stitch by stitch, small steps add up to big results! Knitting and crocheting are relaxing activities that do not require technology. Knitters have a way to spend their time in a valuable and creative way when we step back from our computers, televisions and phones."

If you can knit or crochet, you'll have a productive and relaxing way to spend the down time when the lights go out on Saturday. Use a candle and enjoy a taste of days gone by while being a part of an important movement.

Accredited media interested in discussing this release in more detail are encouraged to contact Ilana Rabinowitz at Ilana@lionbrand.com to schedule an interview.
