Knitting and crochet enthusiasts reach out to homeless in New York City with handmade scarves & hats

Giving back to its hometown of NYC, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio, will be collecting scarves and hats from knitters and crocheters to benefit the Partnership for the Homeless

Manhattan, New York - October 2, 2009 - Giving back to its hometown of NYC, Lion Brand Yarn Studio (, the retail store of Lion Brand Yarn Company, will be collecting scarves and hats from knitters and crocheters during the months of October and November to benefit the Partnership for the Homeless (, a NYC non-profit dedicated to helping families and individuals in need.

From the Red Cross’s Socks for Soldiers in WWII to chemo caps for cancer patients, knitters & crocheters have always found a way to give back to their communities with their crafts. In this tradition, Lion Brand Yarn Studio, the retail store of Lion Brand Yarn Company, will be collecting hats and scarves for the Partnership for the Homeless, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides services, education, and advocacy for homeless individuals and families. Donations will be collected from October 1st through November 30th. The drop off address for donations is 34 West 15th St. in Manhattan.

In addition, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio (LBYS) is putting its knitting needles where its mouth is. From October 1 through Nov. 22 (the 1 year anniversary of the LBYS), the Studio will have live knitters in the store window working on scarves for over 300 hours to draw attention to this worthy cause.
