Caring and Sharing

While so many of us love making things for ourselves and our families, many in the Lion community go further, creating for those in need. Join us in this section and be touched by these true stories of caring and sharing submitted by Lion Brand readers.

Our Crochet Club

I found myself lost when my best friend and crochet partner retired and moved away. I needed help and with my limited computer knowledge I went on the Internet looking for another crocheter to help me out.

There I found Dee Stanziano of Danbury Ct. only a short drive from my home. Dee is the president of the Happily Hooked on Crocheting Club. I attended a meeting and have been hooked ever since. I met a wonderful group of gals of all ages and experience. We hooked up immediately. We've been making preemie blankets for the babies in the Danbury hospital as well as making hat, scarf and mitten sets for the Salvation army.

We've also made blankets for a local womans shelter and are now making chemo caps for the Danbury hospital. I'm so happy to be involved with a group such as this. We learn from each other and together we help the community.

I was especially happy to do work for the Salvation Army since that organization was there many a time when my husband was on the Yonkers Fire Department. They came to all the big fires, bringing coffee and something to eat when needed. This is an ideal way for me to repay them for their kindness.

We use many of Lion brand yarns -- too many to mention individually. Our latest chemo cap project uses Homespun for the caps. This seems to work well on this project, but again we've used so many of your yarns, I couldn't list them all.

Thank you for this opportunity to praise this club for their charitable work and wonderful community service. They are truly a blessing to their community!
