Courage for a friend

I belong to a Senior Center where we meet every day for lunch. One of my friends developed cancer for the second time and was devastated at the thought of having to go through chemo and radiation.

To cheer her up and give her courage, I made her a Victory afghan - a crocheted V stitch afghan made with purple (for courage and victory) Homespun, edged with pink (for love and affection) worsted and knotted fringe on both ends. Each fringe section was knotted by a different friend who said a prayer for her recovery as the knot was pulled tight.

This was the first Victory afghan that has been given by our Senior Center but will not be the last.

Our friend was flabbergasted that she had so many friends who thought so much of her!

Now, when she is feeling rotten from the effects of the treatments, she can wrap herself in the love and prayers of friends.
