Baby socks for Neo-natal babies

I knit lots of socks for my family and friends and was always looking for ways to use left-over sock yarn when I ran across a pattern for baby socks! A friend of my sister's works in the neo-natal unit at one of our local hospitals. For the past several years, I have been using my scrap sock yarn to make socks for the babies in the unit. I can usually get at least three pair out of the scraps from one pair of adult socks. No more odd little balls of sock yarn! For anyone one who wants to try the same, I use 24 stitches, 6 rows of ribbing, 8 rows for the top of the sock, turn the heal and 20 rows for the foot.
I sometimes make "mitts," too, but they aren't as fun for me as the socks. Mitts do help keep the babies from using their little fingers to pull on any tubes!
