Charity Crafting.

I became involoved in charity work right after the birth of my first granddaughter. She was in the NICU for about 2 months after her birth. The babies looked so cold. After talking to a few friends that I had online we decided to start a group called Charity Crafting. I am the owner of this group. Our website is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/charitycrafting/. We knit, crochet and sew things for preemie and newborn babies all over the United States. Charity Crafting makes over 2,000 items each year. We pretty much crochet and knit non-stop to keep up with the demands of birthing centers and NICU's around the country.

If you have ever seen a preemie you would know how hard it is to find going home clothes for them. And there are too many newborns that go home with only the diaper on its little bottom. Too many newborns in this country have nothing.

Our local media have done nothing about reporting my projects because I have never notifed them. Guess I have never thought about it. What I make is for charity only.

The parents of some of these babies send us thank you notes and sometimes include a picture of their wee one wearing something that our group has donated. It makes a heart warm when that happens. Some mothers in NICU's cry and say a really big thanks if they are around when we make our deliveries.

The pictures I am sending are of a couple that took donations to Plantation General Hospital in Florida. The nurse is holding a baby is about ready to go home. This was taken in the NICU.
