Pray Shawl Ministry

Dear Lion Brand Yarn,

About a year and a half ago a woman in our church was diagnosed with breast cancer. A friend of hers from Chicago mailed a prayer shawl to her when she was going through her chemo treatments. She was so impacted by this that she prayerfully considered starting a group like it at our church.

September 1, 2004 Christ Community Church held the first meeting to start a prayer Shawl Ministry. I went to that meeting and decided to get involved.

The very first shawl that I knitted, I used your yarn. After prayer my way through knitting this shawl, God led me to give it to my Aunt whose husband had just been told that his cancer had come back. I told her that I hoped that both of them would be reminded that someone was praying for them every time that they say it and be reminded that God had His arms wrapped around them every time she had it on. I never really heard if it helped her or not until this last Saturday, December 11, 2004. The day after her husband went to be with the Lord. She called me that morning and said that she needed to share something with me. She said that she had gone to bed the night before with that shawl wrapped tightly around her shoulders and slept that way all night. She said that she felt like God had His arms wrapped around her all night comforting her.

I am so pleased to be a part of this ministry and if it can help even one person to go through a hard time and find a small peice of comfort then the time is well worth it.

I am currently knitting my 17th shawl and our group has giving away well over 50 of these shawls since September 1, 2004. Almost every shawl has been made with your yarn. Every person who receives one comments on how soft it is and what beautiful colors.

Thanks you for your part in this ministry by making such a beautiful yarn. If you would ever consider donating some yarn we would love to have some to use to touch even more people.

God bless,
Sheryl Block
