Caring and Sharing

chemo hats

I was treated for breast cancer last summer. Fortunately, I did not need to take chemo treatments. However, I did need to take some medication through an IV at this chemo center at Bonne Terre hospital at Bonne Terre, Missouri. This fall a good friend of mine was diagnosed with colon cancer and has been taking treatments. I made a hat and a scarf for her and it has come in handy. With the first treatment, she started losing her hair. I have been a long time crocheter and I thought it would be a good idea to make chemo hats. I use Lion Brand tweed, homespun, and wool ease. The resulting hats are nice and soft. The treatment nurses welcomed the hats and I plan to make more. I think this would be a good project for any group. The hats do not take long to make and there is a need. I do not have an organization, but any place where chemo treatments are being done would be a good charity.
