Prayer Shawls

I made many prayer shawls for Unity Hospice clients in the past until arthritis made it hard for me to crochet any longer. So I started doing some strength exercises for my hands, relearned to knit and am once again making prayer shawls plus I found that I can crochet again for a few days in between a few days of knitting.

My parents were both on the Unity Hospice program and twelve years ago when I retired, my sister-in-law and I became involved volunteering for Unity. It's been a few years since I was able to make and donate a shawl to Unity and I'm looking forward to becoming more involved in this wonderful program once again.

The shawls I made in the past were all made with Homespun yarn which worked up beautifully. I'm crocheting a shawl with Homespun now and knitting one with Jiffy and I'm very happy with the way that one is turning out, too. Hope to try one with Wool-ease Chunky because I find that yarn wonderful to work with, also.
