Nursing Home Presents

I work alone and spend about 5 hours per day knitting. I started with prayer shawls for Hospice for people in neeed, but now I am on a mission.

Last year I visited the nursing home at Christmas and was horrified at the number of residents who did not have a present or any visitors. So this year, I am making sure EVERYONE gets something. There are 74 residents and as of today I have 55 pieces knitted, anything from shawls, ponchos, arm warmers, leg warmers etc., so Santa can deliver to EVERYONE.

Friends help with the cost of yarn, Lion Brand is affordable, and the joy it will bring to these sometimes forgotten souls is priceless.

I also knit for teddy bears for the knitting guild to distribute to abused children at police stations across the country.

I am thinking of maybe starting a knitting class at the nursing home for those who are able to help them get a little enjoyment in making something and pass some time that is productive.
