Caring and Sharing

While so many of us love making things for ourselves and our families, many in the Lion community go further, creating for those in need. Join us in this section and be touched by these true stories of caring and sharing submitted by Lion Brand readers.

Warm Up America

While reviewing the Lion Brand Yarn web site, I noticed a link to another web site - Warm Up America.

After checking it out, I printed all of the requirements for making projects for this worthy cause, and passed them out to several of my friends at work. The idea was well received by 8 of my coworkers and so the Convent of the Sacred Heart Knitting/Crocheting Club was formed!

We meet every Tuesday for one hour - have lunch and compare our work. Our club started in October of 2003 and we have completed 2 afghans for Warm Up America, and 5 lap blankets for a local rehabilitation center. Most often, we used worsted weight yarn and "of course" Lion Brand was at the top of our list.

What a wonderful feeling we received, knowing that we were giving to those who are in need of some warmth and love! Our club efforts have been featured on the school's web site and also in the school newspaper.

We plan to continue the club each school year and will also continue to share our handiwork with those in need.
