Knit hats for Sophia

I am so proud of my knitting group, Slipped Stitches. We meet at Matheson Memorial Library in Elkhorn, WI, on Wednesday evenings and welcome everyone who does any kind of stitching to attend. There are women and men ranging from ages 20's to 80's who come and share a common interest in creating beautiful handmade projects. We all love to support each other's crafts and especially to "ooh and ahhh" over completed projects.

I was contacted by a librarian from another library in Williams Bay, WI, who wanted to support a 6 year old girl who has been undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia and does not have hair and is not expected to have any hair til at least the middle of 2014...if all goes well. There have been so many ups and downs (infections, etc.), for this beautiful little girl and her family. Well...her idea was to have hats made for Sophia so that she could wear a different one almost every day to help offset the loss of her hair! Wonderful idea! I put the message out to Slipped Stitches and the beautiful hats appeared! The librarian was overwhelmed with gratitude for our support of her endeavor to make Sophia's day a little brighter during this challenging time.

This is just one example of the beautiful hearts that we share as knitters & crocheters...always willing to make and share with others.

There are pics under our FB group...slipped stitches. It is a closed group, but I will try to forward pictures to your address and use "Charity Project" in the subject...
