Volunteer of patient gifts

HI- I am from Grand Rapids,Michigan and we are opening the first HOPE Lodge of Michigan in our city. The American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge is for patients who travel from more than 30 miles away from us for treatment. They stay for FREE in an absolutely beautiful lodge along with a caregiver. Our first patient will arrive on February 6, 2008. As a volunteer ( and survivor!) we are putting together 'HOPE' baskets for each patient. In the basket will be shampoo, conditioner, a journal to take to their appointments, a pen, a bag of lemon drops (to help get rid of that chemo-metal mouth taste) , a pillow with HOPE embroidered on it and a prayer shawl.

We have 20 rooms so it is very possible that we could help 600 people in a year. The prayer shawl ministry is an ongoing ministry. I would be so very grateful if anyone could help us with shawls. I can be contacted at proach1015@yahoo.com .

Thank you so very, very much. Celebrate each day!! Pam Roach
