Tiny clothes for tiny babies

My sister, Rebecca, knits and crochets multiple items for the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that I work in. My sister does beautiful work that is greatly appreciated by the families, parents and hospital staff.

She uses baby yarn to make blankets, tiny outfits for preemies and term babies, and endless caps. She makes special caps to reflect area football games and holidays. We have a continous need for these caps to keep our babies warm.

The caps go home with the babies upon discharge, or with their families in memory boxes for the babies that don't make it. If our supply of outfits permits, we let the baby's mother choose an outfit for her baby.

I know this need firsthand, as our brother's first child died in our unit and we lacked something special to bury him in. He only weighed one pound and even most doll clothes wouldn't fit him. The little outfits are often the only clothes the families have that fit their baby.

The families are so thankful for the little outfits at such a traumatic time in their lives.
