Knitting in Australia

I was very stressed with work & after a long time away from knitting I took to it again as its so therapeutic. I used all my odd balls of wool & left overs to knit up long strips with a view to making them into a rug.

I knitted & knitted, varying the width of the strips from 50 to 100 stitches, colours & textures too numerous to mention, though mainly 8 ply.

The strips varied in length from but averaged 4 metres. When it cmae to joining them it was all a bit messy & I thought there could be better use made of my hand craft.

I asked around at work & was able to identify a client who sends items to South Africa for use with victims of AIDS. I work at the Blood Bank & when this lady was next donating she was thrilled when I gave her a huge bundle of hand knitted multi coloured lengths to work with with a view to them going to such a worthy cause.

In all honesty, I can't say that I used Lion Brand Yarns, the $US to $AUS makes the purchase of your product too expensive but I love getting your e-mail newsletter & took inspiration from the articles you have had about knitting for charity.
