Caring and Sharing

Cancer Survivor

Having had breast cancer, I wanted to find a way to help those going through breast cancer and other kinds of cancer that require chemotherapy and lose their hair.
I started knitting/crocheting chemo caps. What I am doingnow is crocheting all of them as they go faster and yarns of different types and colors can be used. I have given them to friends, those who I know are going through this ordeal, as well as to different cancer centers(San Diego-USC/NORRIS-) and my oncologist office. They have just asked me to knit/crochet large lap robes for the patients to use while they are having their chemotherapy treatments. I also make lap robes for an Alzheimer's home.

I have used LOTS of Lion Brand yarn as well as many other brands. No two ever turn out the same, so I do not get bored!

It gives me GREAT satisfaction to be able to do this for these people. I have had several people take my hats for themselves when I have brought them in for whomever. This is a GREAT time for me. To give them a little light in their life at this hard time. I do not charge anyone for any of these-and to GIVE gives me even more pleasure!!

I do not read patterns, so anyone can do the same--make your own version of a snow hat using different kinds of yarn. THEY ARE FUN-and HELP. Jo Daly
