Caring and Sharing

K.I.C.C.

I have been knitting hats and scarves for the homeless in our community this last year. I got to thinking that if I can make a difference in the little I do, then maybe our church can make a difference in what they could do through a group that knits and crochets. We want to kick it back to the community so we have recently formed a ministry called K.I.C.C. (Knitters & Crocheters for Christ) at our church. We want to use our abilities and talents to give back to the community, especially in this time of economic crisis. There are so many people out there that could use blankets, wheelchair lap blankets, hats and scarves, etc. and we want to be able to make a difference in our community and help meet some of those needs. We are just now forming as a group and will be functioning on donations of yarns, needles, hooks, patterns, and money. Right now we have about 40 sets of hats and scarves to take to the homeless. We scheduled to dedicate 5 1/2 hours per week in this new ministry, making items to give out. The things we make are easy and fast and we can make a lot in a little amount of time so I encourage everyone out there to take simple things and make them count in your community! As I said, we are just beginning but you can bet we will be a growing and vibrant ministry in our community for the Lord!
