Caring and Sharing

Knitting Sisters

My sister who lives in Chicago area has breast cancer and her oncologist office gave her a "shawl" when she was on chemotherapy. There was an angel sewn on the shawl and a lovely letter accompanying the shawl, which was given annonymously.

Since then my sister, Garnett, has bought many, many skeins of Lion Homespun yarn for my twin sister and myself to make shawls for cancer victims. My twin sister lives in the Pittsburgh area and I live in South Dakota. We knit three skeins of yarn into a shawl..(60 stitches wide) and send them to Garnett and she takes them to her oncologist's office where they are given to others.

My sis and I have probably made 200 of these shawls ... the knitting needles are clicking most of the spare time we have. The doctor's office has received wonderful notes from patients who have received these shawls and how much they have meant to them. The warm comforting loving gesture of "someone" means so much to them. We always use your Homespun yarn, makes them so wonderfully lovely.

This "act of kindness" we do for others is so rewarding, just to know they are given to others who are going through difficult days is meaningful.

We are not involved with a group -- just the two of us and do what we can!! your Homespun yarn and we use so many different colors!!
