Caring and Sharing

While so many of us love making things for ourselves and our families, many in the Lion community go further, creating for those in need. Join us in this section and be touched by these true stories of caring and sharing submitted by Lion Brand readers.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

I am a caregiver for the elderly and I soon found that many of them have few friends that visit. I decided I'd do what I could to make them a prayer shawl they could wrap up in to make them feel more comforted and cared for.

Prayer Shawls are also made for anyone I find is have chemo therapy or takes dialysis as each of them sit in a room that isn't as warm as they would like them to be. I believe at this time there are five shawls being used each week that came from either my needles or hooks. Many times I've made hats for the chemo people as well.

Those that I hear on mourning the loss of a loved one get a shawl to wrap around them to feel the comfort of the GOD who made them and still loves them no matter how sad they feel right now.

I don't use any particular Lion Brand yarn but several different kinds with the Pound of Love as a staple because of it's size and softness.

This has been a ministry I have taken on by myself as there aren"t many of the people I know that feel this to be a priority for them.

I am so sorry, I have no pics at this point to send, however, if you know anyone in our area (Portland, OR ) that is needing what I have to offer, right now I have 7 shawls and 4 hats ready if someone could use them
