Knitting for Charities

I found the "Knit a Square" - KAS - website when searching for some knitting to donate to charities.
Because I was born in South Africa, and migrated to Australia in 1973, this was the perfect charity for me to donate to.
Knitting squares while watching tv on cold winter nights gave me something to do that was productive but easy.
I then told the other ladies in my office and soon we had a small group, all knitting squares for Africa!
One lady's mum also got involved. The good thing is we can use up any left-over wools or yarns and the colours always look good. Knitters can be creative and mix colours and patterns as they feel inspired!
I offer to mail the squares once we have a full bag which made everyone very happy.
The reason we all enjoy this work is that there is no pressure in having to complete anything by a deadline. We just knit till we have done enough!
Every now and then we receive the e-newsletter from the charity, including pictures of the little orphans wearing the outfits made from the squares. That is very encouraging to know we are helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
Regards
