Caring and Sharing

Charity

I was knitting and crocheting scarves, hats, and vests for the homeless in our city for many years, when through the church I attended there was a note in the bulletin from someone looking for knitters and yarn. That was about four years ago.

I responded and met as a result the loveliest woman with a heart for the homeless, especially children that I will ever know. She has become a very dear friend and she knits constantly.

I am serious, she always has her needles and yarn. They are in the car, in her bag, by the sofa and beside her bed. She hasn't the best health, but she uses every moment and all of the limited financial resources she has to purchase yarn from thrift(second-hand)shops from bins of bits that people have discarded.

She truly is an angel and thousands upon thousands of hats that she has made (she also has other ladies knitting, but some of them ask her to supply the yarn. they are knitting scarves, slippers, and other items as well.) have gone to the Ukraine to childrens orphanages. She does this through Mission Partners International. They have a huge warehouse right here in London, Ontario where we live and so we are blessed to have an access so close to home to take these items to the children that need them. Her name is Marianna and I am sure that in heaven it's mentioned often!

Thank you for letting me share this story with someone,
Debbie Fera
