Prayer Shawl and Lap Robe Ministry within my Church

A lady in our Church came to me at Church one Sunday and told me about reading a devotion about Prayer Shawls and asked me if I would be willing to start the ministry in our Church. Since my husband has been dealing with colon cancer for several years, I immediately said yes, I knitted the first shawl from one of Lion Brands free patterns and asked for other ladies help in our church. Several of our ladies have used Lion Brand Homespun yarn, it is so soft. We started this ministry a year and half ago, we have given away 126 shawls and lap robes to shut-ins or people facing cancer or other illnesses. The shawls and lap robes have been sent to several different states and at one of my husband's appointments at the hospital recently in another city, we met a lady who had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time and is facing a second surgery. I felt led to go to my car and get a shawl for the lady, she seemed very pleased that someone who didn't know her would give her a shawl. To be able to make these shawls and lap robes and give them to people who need to be uplifted has been a Blessing to me and the other ladies in our church and we hope to continue this ministry for years to come.
