Lap-ghans

I've always crocheted afghans but didn't always have somewhere to put them. When my husband got cancer, I saw all the people in wheelchairs where a regular afghan wouldn't work so I thought of making lap-ghans. They make up quick & if I make granny squares, they're very portable while sitting waiting for my husbands chemo treatments. I've used the different colors of the cancer ribbons but usually use purples because that stands for cancer. I like to use yarn that washes & dries easy.

The place I take my lap-ghans to is SMOC which is Southeaster medical oncology clinic where my husbands Drs. are & where he gets his treatments.

I've only made & given away 5 so far but am working on a blue & white one right now. I don't know who receives my lap-ghans. I leave it up to the people at the clinic to give them to those that need them. They also accept & sell any kind of craft that might help the office provide for those that need help like gas money etc.

I haven't thought about telling the local media about it but maybe it would be a good idea.
There is no group I'm affiliated with. It's just me & anyone in the office that sees me working & I tell about. Anyone that can knit or crochet could make these. You'd be surprised where you could take them. Just look around!!

Happy crafting!!
Debi
