Knitting for NewBorns

My daughter had a baby in April,2003 and I had brought to the hospital some baby hats that I had made in advance so that all the babies in the nursery could have a handmade hat to wear.

While waiting for my granddaughter to arrive, I had brought my knitting and crocheting bag with me to pass the time. While I was there, the Doctors and the Nurses told me they had no hats or blankets for the preemie babies.

During the 3 days I was there, I made 20 preemie hats (Jamie Yarn is the best for tiny babies)and I made a few small blankets. They were very surprised and happy to have them.

Over the following year, I made blankets and hats and very tiny sweaters and a few things for big and small babies. I left them anonysmously and just said it was a big "thank you" for my beautiful granddaughter, Alexandria. I used mostly Lion Brand Yarns.

All hospitals are in need of baby items and they don't required a lot of yarn and they are very happy to get them for mothers in need and sometimes for little angels who go back to heaven.

Thanks for your caring.
