Warm Up Christchurch One Pair of Feet At a Time

Since Christchurch was devastated by 2 huge earthquakes, in 2010 a& 2011, I have been crocheting and knitting slippers and bedsocks, especially for the very young and the very old.
I have found it very therapeutic to do this to help others and, even though I don't get any direct feedback from the people I help, I am sure what I do is very much appreciated.
Last winter I use a Resthome to distribute what I made but they are suffering from their own damage so this winter I will be sending most items to a local Play Centre which will pass on what I make to the people who need help.
It is going to take many years before the city is back to normal, if normal ever returns so I think I will be very busy fornyears to come.
I started a knitting group at a Cafe at our local Mall so I have a bit of help but some in the group already do charity knitting, especially for Beanies For Babies.
If anyone should read this and want to help, please feel free to join in by helping a charity close to where you live.
Just imagine how much yarn you can buy with whatnitnwould cost for postage to another country.
Have fun.
Colleen
