beanies for seafarer's

We have been making beanies for the Seafarer's Center in Pago Pago, American Samoa, for more than a year. So far there has only been a few of us making the beanies, but last year we sent about 250 + beanies. Most of the time the worsted yarn is used, but we do get creative witth them. This year we are hoping to get more involved in making the beanies. They are for the fishermen on the foreign fishing boats, merchant marines, and other sea travelers. It has been a good project for stay at home moms, inbound people, and a project to do while watching TV, waiting in the Dr office, or riding a bus or commute train. Each beanie is unique, and it is great to see the variations. Of course God's blessings are on each cap. They are being prayed over like the prayer shawls.I am sure that any of the Seafarer's centers or Merchant Marine centers would be more than grateful for the donations. They have been accepted very warmly. I downloaded a couple of patterns from Lion Brand yarns. Thanks, Lion Brand.
