Caring and Sharing

While so many of us love making things for ourselves and our families, many in the Lion community go further, creating for those in need. Join us in this section and be touched by these true stories of caring and sharing submitted by Lion Brand readers.

I love to make baby afghans, sweater, caps and botties. My own family has too many now so I have been donating these items to the local crisis nursery and to the local maternity ward at the hospital. I love to use Lion Brand yarn, I try to find it on sale of course since it is out of my pocket. I do not belong to a group of any kind. I just sent 18 blankets, 6 hat and bottie sets to the local hospital. I usually make at least
3-4 aghans a month and 6 or so bottie hat sets. Over the years I do not know how many I have made, I have tried to keep track this last year and have made over 60 afghans, 12 sweaters, dozens of hat and bottie sets.
I would encourage other knitters and crocheters to do something like like on their own if necessary, it really gives me a feeling of good will and I believe every baby needs a warm blanket and every mother needs something special for their baby. The local medical has not reported on my projects but I would love to have work get out in our area because the need is so great.
I will give others I work with credit for donating yarn for me.
I have included a couple of pictures, these are only a few of the aghans I have made, they also include dresses and sweaters
Thank you for listening
