Crochet Lap Blankets and children's hats

I had some left over yarn and set to crochet a blanket for watching TV. I made it about 32" square and it worked well. I mentioned it to friends Ii was exercising with. They volunteered at St.Camillus and said their patients liked lap blankets and would I make more. I mentioned I was using yarn left over from various projects and sure I would go as far as I could. Well before I knew it I received bags of yarn of all colors and textures among which were many of Lion brand. Well this has been going on for ten years now. I supply a new blanket each week. However that isn't the end. There is again more small balls of yarn (ping pong to baseball size) that begged to be used. So I found a convenient hat pattern to crochet and used up the "balls" in a mix and match use of the yarn and made about a thousand hats for church to be given to children as they needed. I have been sent through the volunteers notes expressing thanks for the blankets.

It feels good.
