Caring and Sharing

While so many of us love making things for ourselves and our families, many in the Lion community go further, creating for those in need. Join us in this section and be touched by these true stories of caring and sharing submitted by Lion Brand readers.

Keep your Mind Busy!

A few years ago I retired and moved to FL. After working most
of my life I needed something to keep me busy. I had accumulated quite a
lot of yarn over the years when I had done other projects, mostly afghans.
I decided I would make lap rugs for the people in Nursing Homes.
I made a visit and ask permission, needless to say they were
over joyed. Last Christmas I made ten and ten more for this Christmas.
It gave the people living there, who did not get anything for
the holiday a present.
This year I also made an American Flag afghan for the Brandon
Lions Club of which I am a member to sell chances on for the
benefit of our Club.I have just finished making a second one
for ECHO - Emergency Care Help of Brandon for them to auction
off to bring money for their cause. I volunteer there once a
week. This is a great organization, they help thousand of families
in need.
Crocheting is a great way to keep your mind and hands busy.
Keeping your mind busy will keep you from getting old!
I dedicate at least 25 hours per week to crocheting.

Thank you for producing a great brand of yarn.
