Caring and Sharing

Hats and Mitts

I would like to talk about my mother who is always knitting and helping someone in need. After raising 7 of her own children she starting using the skills that she had to help others. She knit hats and mitts and took them to the local school for them to hand out to children that needed them. She then would knit for the Toronto sick kids hospital and would have someone deliver them to for her as she was unable to make the trip. I also remember her knitting mitts for my church when they were collecting mitts for those in need. She never had an easy life but she was always trying to make life easier for others. She never bragged about what she did. She would just quietly work away and get satisfaction with knowing that someone had a warm hat to wear. Most places were not even aware that she made them as she just would leave them or have someone else take them in for her. Because of my mother I have now started to take up knitting again and hope to be half the person that she is.
