Caring and Sharing

Crocheting Hearts

My son had cancer when he was only five months old. When he had his kidney taken out because of the tumor he was given a quilt. He is now twelve years old and he is fine. But he still loves his blankets, and it doesn't matter how hot or humid it is out he will have a blanket on. I believe it is a huge comfort for him. So in June of 2005 I launched a project in a Women's Ministry to crochet blankets for kids that have cancer. After we are done making them my church and I pray for them before we give them to the kids. So far we have made over 50, I am able to make two blankets per week, and we have given them to Connecticut Children's Medical Center, in Hartford, CT. We make the blankets with Pound of Love. We have three people that crochet together. When we can we do get together for a movie night and bring our crochet project with us and watch a movie together. But mostly we just work on our projects on our own. For me this is my hearts cry to continue this work. I believe that these blankets bring comfort to those kids, and even give them a smile when there truely isn't too much to smile about. I have been soliciting local businesses for help with donations. I truely do not want to end up stopping this project because of funding. If you could help please hear my heart. I do have a letter from my church, I am asking for your help. Please let me know if you can help.

Thank you so much
