We have a Thursday Noon Knit/Crochet group at work. We gather together to share our lunch and our love of fiber. In 2010 we shared a charitable project with a local knit store, Abeulita's in South Pasadena,CA. The Mother Bear Project. http://motherbearproject.org/ by making bears for children in Africa with Aids. If you look at the website you can't help but want to make bears for these kids. We had a successful participation and our bears even hung in the store window before they were sent to the project.
Some of our beginning knitters learned new techniques and our more seasoned knitters had a great time embellishing their bears with cabled sweaters and fancy skirts.
This project was so much fun as group we are now looking for our 2011 charitable project.
