Faux Shearling Blanket
Created By: Teresa Von Emster
Craft: crochet
Materials: I followed the pattern recommendations and used the Eco-Ways yarn and the Light-and-Lofty. From a color perspective, came out really well. However, the Eco-Ways yarn is very difficult to find in stores, so I might go with the recommended substitutions. Also, I followed the gauge pretty closely and still needed one more ball of the brown and three of the light-and-lofty. For the back squares (square b in the pattern), I went down a needle size in order to achieve gauge.
Pattern Source: otherCo: Faux Shearling Throw
This is a faux shearling blanket. It took me approximately 45 minutes to make each brown square and an hour for each of the back squares. The assembly was really straightforward. I weaved in all the ends as I went, which was a huge time-saver. To make this a higher-quality blanket, I did the single-crochet joins on each side and did an extra border row. This blanket is really thick and warm and received really well by the recipient. In fact, I have some requests to make this for a few more people!
