I learned this a couple of weeks ago at a class that was at this years SCA Great Western War in Taft, California. The lady who taught the class made marudai's using Trader Joe coffee cans, cardboard cake rounds, yarn wrapped around metal bolts and counter weights using nuts. It looks difficult but once you get the pattern down and a rhythym going, it's extremely relaxing
