Hat: Size 10.5 Needles (would likely use a 9 if done again)
Mittens: Size 10 DPN (pattern calls for 11; my daughter has a dainty hand hence the 10)

I found patterns online for a super bulky slouch hat and mittens and handcrafted/knitted them up for my lovely college-aged daughter. The warmth of the wool and softness of the fleece (mitten lining) make these a fabulous fall addition to her outerwear. She has already drawn the sought after affect "OMG I love your hat where did you get it???" I dare say that these will be favorite things of hers for years to come. Nothing like a pair of warm woolen mittens and a bodacious beret! and so easy to knit (8 hours for the combined project - less if not interupted constantly)
