Patchwork Afghan, which is knit in squares, using different aran stitches. Although not difficult to knit, there are two secrets to making it beautiful: 1-Make sure all squares are the exactly same size or they will look lopsided when sewn together. 2-Sew the squares together carefully; seams will show. This will be an heirloom well worth the time you put into it.
