Cat-in-the-Hats, hats that just happen. A scarf here & there.
Created By: Stephanie Boone
Craft: crochet
Materials: I used those old skeins of yarn, some were even kind of pretty. I also used mixes of different kinds and textures of yarn. I made a newborn hat[that could have held 2 newborn heads and I worried about it being too tight] out of some very soft orange yarn from Lion Brand. Usually I buy from the marked down bin. Other people buy yarn and give it to me.
Pattern Source: book: basic beanie
I started making hats because my mother cleaned out a storage closet in the basement and gave 2 huge dish packing barrels full of yard: newish, oldish, retro, and stinky-dirty-ancient-throw-it-away. I had to use them. I found an easy pattern and just began to crochet. The first year, I cranked out hat & scarf sets for each of my siblings, their spouses, my mom, and each of my nieces & nephews, various friends and friends of my kids, gifts from my husband to co-workers and gave 29 hats and a few scarfs to the homeless shelter.
