The pattern is from a free handout pattern at least 30 years ago. I used Vanna's Choice, rust color. It used a cut-down heavy plastic jug for the center. It was hard using a hole punch on the jug. I crocheted most of it and then crocheted into the holes to attach it. The pattern showed variagated yarn for tail and wings and glue gun them on but I whipstitched mine because glue gunning usually doesn't last for me. I found some yarn that made me think of feathers. I crocheted them around floral wire. The beak and wattle are from commercial felt. The eyes are embroided on.
