My daughters wanted very simple but pretty dresses for their daughters in the family beech pictures. I kept the pattern as is except that I knitted the skirt from bottom to bodice on my knitting machine adapting the length for each child. Then I removed from the machine and put on knitting needles for the bodice. Following the pattern completely except of course adapting the measurements for each child. After stitching the sides together, I crocheted a shell lace on the bottom for the desired length. I use cotton worsted weight #4 on most of my projects as is washes well. This pattern is beautiful in Lion Brands Organic Cottons. I would definitely recommend this pattern to a beginner or experienced knitter as you can use a variety of stitches for the bodice and/or skirt portions.
