I made this for a dear friend and fellow cast member of 42nd Street for out "Secret Santa."
When i first started this project i was nervous. i'd never had a hat before.. and neither had my grandmother (my Knit/ Crochet mentor).. so i took a crack at it. at first i couldnt get it started. and i was so frustrated because i've made dozens of granny squares. needless to say by the third time of ripping it out and starting over and darn near throwing it into the fire it finally started looking like a hat. so i finish it and go to put it on. too small. and i followed the pattern. so i put it away for a day. in the cast we have a few stitchers so i talked to one of them and she said she usually crochets more rounds than it calls for. so i went home and tried it. TA-DAA!! why couldnt i have thought of that? lol!!! My friend absolutely loved it and everyone is amazed that it was my first one ever. they think it looks store bought :D
